Sole Sisters Drop-In Walking Program

Scroll down for the weekly walk location.

Strap on your walking shoes and join the Sole Sisters walking group. This program is offered most Wednesdays (Not during the Christmas break or July and August) at various locations around the Oceanside area and is intended for women 50+, but all ages are welcome.

This is not a power walking group, but the group does walk at a moderate pace. There is a leader at the front and a leader at the back. No one is left on their own.

Time: Wednesdays/ September to June
10:00-11:30am depending on the trail. Most walks are about 60 minutes long, but can vary, being as long as 90 minutes.
Cost: FREE
You will be asked to sign a waiver at the first walk you attend.

Sole Sisters Weekly Walk Information

Please scroll down for the location, which is updated every Monday.

Important!

Please be sure to check here on Wednesday mornings for a cancellation, or a change in location, if the weather seems uncertain.

Thank you for reading the information below!

1. We would like each person to keep their name and emergency contact in a pocket and if possible wear a name tag. This can be as simple as a piece of masking tape with your name on it. With so many new people, this will help the leaders identify you if you are injured or unwell.

2. Fast walkers MUST stay in contact with the front leader. If you happen to get ahead, stop and wait, or turn back to the leader. the leader should ALWAYS be at the front of the group. If you are not willing to do this, we will not be able to count you in as part of the walk, due to safety issues.

3. It is important that you do not leave from a walk until you have checked in with the leader, so no one is left behind.

December 12th Location

Sole Sisters always meet at 9:45am and leave as close to 10:00am as possible.

Coombs to Parksville Rail Trail

Kristine and Kim are looking forward to welcoming you to our second annual Sole Sisters Christmas Cheer walk. The walk will cross the highway and follow the Coombs to Parksville Rail Trail, heading out 30 minutes and back 30 minutes on the same trail. The trail is on crushed gravel and very flat. Unfortunately, the weather is looking wet, so pack your umbrella and rain jacket. We hope you will join us afterwards in BoMe Cheese with a warm cup of apple cider or coffee/tea and a slice of traditional German Cheesecake, prepared lovingly by the owner, Bibi. This will also be our time to thank our wonderful walk leaders, Susan, Kathy, Magdalena, Elaine and Eleanor! All donations will be put toward children and youth programs in Arrowsmith. Thank you for supporting ACRA's programs. xo

Directions: Please meet in the parking lot at BoMe Cheese. Kristine and I will be there to direct you as to where to park. BoMe Cheese is just off the Alberni Highway, close to the Bradley Centre, which is on the corner of Shearme Road. Please see the map to the right.
