Doors at 7:30pm & Show at 8:00pm
The Juno-nominated Marc Atkinson Trio features guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer Atkinson, Brett Martens on acoustic rhythm guitar, and Scott White on stand-up bass. Atkinson is considered a technical master of the guitar. His playing has been described as fiery and elegant, but never losing the laid-back feel that makes his music accessible to a wide audience and a joy to listen to. Joining the trio on stage for this gypsy jazz concert will be Cameron Wilson on violin.
Composer/arranger and virtuoso violinist Wilson is a remarkably versatile musician. Playing in concert with artists ranging from Jimmy Page and Robert Plant to Natalie Cole to Stuart McLean, he is currently a member of the classical crossover Joe Trio, Gypsy Jazz Quartet Van Django, The Hard Rubber Orchestra, and Mariachi del Sol. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by symphony orchestras, ensembles and soloists across North America, and featured in several film scores. He is an in-demand session musician for recording and has appeared on numerous albums.
Opening is Vancouver’s New Generation Jazz Quartet with leader Ilhan Saferali on piano and trumpet, Lucas Dubovik on sax, Alex Marr on drums, and KSS grad Sam Baglieri on bass. The quartet recently performed on the Youth Stage at the 2018 Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Their appearance is sponsored by the BC Touring Council’s Warming Up the Act Program for emerging artists.
Tickets are $20 at Cranky Dog Music, Heaven on Earth, Errington Store, and $22.50 online at ErringtonHall.Tickit.ca
